Feelings of disappointment are only natural; that is after you have been to Jack the Horse Tavern. JTHT simply does everything right. From the ambiance to the cocktails and food, there is virtually not a negative word that could be said.
The disappointment kicks in when you try to go somewhere else. Really, I have stopped ordering mixed drinks anywhere aside from JTHT because I know it will be piss in comparison. The head mixologist/bartender creates his own drinks from only the finest of liquors with the most meticulous detail. Pretty much every time I set foot inside, I have to order 'the Brooklyn,' similar to a Manhattan but served with Rye instead of Bourbon.
All the choices presented aside, occasionally I simply request that my drink be chosen by the master himself, and I have never been anything but overjoyed.
The cuisine is unbelievable. Zum beispiel, I quit being a vegetarian to eat the chicken. It is so delicious, I surrendered two years of not eating meat for it. No regrets.
If you are anywhere around Brooklyn Heights, do not waste your time anywhere else, Jack the Horse Tavern is conveniently located at the corner of Hicks and Cranberry.
